Google introduced the system of QR codes for passive headsets in May 2015. It allows for various settings specific to each type of VR headset in terms of:
- Lens distortion
- Thumbnail distance (IPD)
- Thumbnail height
- Lens distance
These settings are often ignored and yet they are crucial since they allow for see properly without having to strain your vision.
Once scanned, these QR codes allow all applications based on the Cardboard SDK to recognize the type of headset used.
Here are the main QR codes.
